CHECKMATE is a canister capable of self-burying
in any sand/silt-based seabed using an internationally patented integral
excavation mechanism. The CHECKMATE concept of a self
burying sea-bed canister has been well proven in prototype trials.
It has its own internal battery providing power for the burying mechanism and also
power for the monitoring system and the two-way communications package.
CHECKMATE could be delivered to its chosen location
either overtly or covertly depending on its application. Delivery could
be by aircraft, surface vessel or submarine into a fixed position in the
sea-bed.
Following launch, CHECKMATE would bury itself to the
depth required for its role. This would provide a stable low cost platform
for its assigned mission. Should only a small amount of the canister be left exposed
above the sea-bed, it would be undetectable by present sonar systems.
Another key feature is the variable payload compartment, suitable for a wide variety of
payloads, for a multitude of mission roles.
CHECKMATE is suitable for use in two areas of activity:
Commercial & Scientific; and
Military.
International Underwater Storage has created two independent web sites, one for
Commercial & Scientific activities and the other for Military activities.
